3 Favorite Amazon Dresses for 2023!

I have a Gala coming up and was in need of a new dress to wear to it! It has been a long time since I’ve shopped for special event dresses. I thought I’d share my finds with you all today because I found three really great options for your next occasion! Let’s review my 3 favorite Amazon dresses for 2023…

Body Shape Note

It’s probably helpful to know that I’m 5’6″ and typically wear a medium or large in tops. I’m still trying to figure out my body shape (sigh), but I have broader shoulders, size C/D ta-tas, a bit thicker torso/tummy, and I don’t have really wide hips. I feel like I’m just an average gal, proportioned fairly evenly throughout my hot mom-bod! LOL I am in a size large in each of these dresses.

I also want to note that I specifically wanted to avoid black for this particular event, so I chose reds and blues. There are multiple color ways for each option, though.

The great thing about all of these options is that I ordered off of Amazon, and I received them all within one or two days. I live in rural Iowa, so this is something special, let me tell you! What’s even better is that the quality of these items is awesome, which is something I’m always hesitant about when ordering from Amazon. They are definitely worth the share!

This post contains affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases. This means that if you purchase an item using a link in my blog post, I may earn a small commission. This comes at no extra charge to you. Thank you for helping to support my blog.

I shared a try-on on my IG stories for the first two dresses, and had my followers vote on their favorite. You can also see these “move” in a reel I made. Then I ordered another one and it was the one, so I thought I’d just share them all here so that it’s an easy reference for the future!

OPtion 1 – the Red Dress

Red Dress

First up is this fun red dress! I loved the sleeves on this one (not lined, flowy), and it had great length. It has a nice liner, and the fabric feels nice. There is some stretch. I specifically wanted to try this dress because of the smocked waist.

I typically like to define my waist to give me a bit more shape, so I thought this would be a good fit. This was so comfortable and I liked the overall fit, but I didn’t like how the smocked area grabbed me (so to speak) in that area, and I knew it would make me self-conscious all night.

This is a pass for me, but still a great dress and four color options!

Option 2 – the Patterned Dress

Patterned DressNext up we have this fun patterned dress! Again, this dress is very comfortable and has a bit of stretch to it. It is a faux wrap dress, meaning there is a stretchy waistband and the top layer of fabric crosses over. On-line it looks like it has a very deep v-neck but that was not the case for me. There is no gaping there and it felt nice.

I really like this dress. Had I not tried a third option, I probably would have worn this to my gala. The only thing I worry about with this dress is that the sides are much shorter than either the front or back. I felt fine in it, but taller gals might not.

I love dresses like this, but sometimes the flowiness of the torso makes me “poof out” more than I really do…if that makes sense? Like, there might be a question of whether I’m pregnant or not. LOL I do not want that to be the case. I do love it though!

Option 3 –  the Lace Dress

Lace Dress
Blue Lace Dress

Here’s the final Amazon dress I tried – the lace dress! I love this one, and will be wearing it to the gala! It is very flattering and I love the cap sleeves and length. It has a bit of stretch to it, but still holds it shape. I tried the navy blue, too, but decided to go bold in the wine red!

I think this is a great fit for your more formal events, whereas the other two dresses are more versatile.

Great Nude Chunky Heel from Amazon

And then, to finish off the outfit, I was in need of a great nude heel and I think I found it in this pair here, also from Amazon!

They are very comfortable. I wore them around the house for an hour or so to test and break in a bit. They’re still a heel, but for what they are, they’re comfortable. The chunky 2.5″ heel makes all the difference here, as well as having the ankle strap for a bit more stability. I love them and they’re the perfect neutral addition to my special event shoes (of which, I have just two true heels, haha). #sahmlife

There are also many color options in these, which is nice. Check them out!

That’s all this mom-who-doesn’t-get-out-much has for you all today! I hope this is helpful for you, and let me know if you find a winner in any of these. I’m always available in comments if you have questions. I’ll try to update this post after the gala to let you know how everything held up… including my body. LOL

To the Chaos!

-MG

Just a little PSA: homeownership takes work, especially out on an acreage. If you’re seeing well manicured landscapes and gardens in your feed, let this be a reminder that there’s also plenty of this happening behind the scenes.

Most feeds are a highlight reel; I like to throw in some real-life. If this resonates, follow along for more!

This is the easiest way to deter carpenter bees fr This is the easiest way to deter carpenter bees from areas you don’t want them. They can be very destructive to wood structures, and while they very rarely sting, they’re pesky little boogers.

I’ve added @pinesol to a few empty jugs, for the past few years, where they seem to gravitate (our lean-to) each spring and this works well at moving them along to another destination.

If you’re struggling with carpenter bees in your yard/landscape/property, give this a try! 🐝 You’ll bee happy you did!😉 Plus, it makes your outdoor living areas smell great when you catch a whiff in the breeze!

Ah, the “Let Them” theory… I have yet to rea Ah, the “Let Them” theory… I have yet to read Mel Robbins’ book, but I have a pretty good idea what it’s all about.

In motherhood, you have to a strike a balance between control and fostering independence. One way you can do that? LET THEM wear what they want.🙃 Truly. I promise it’s okay. I promise no one really cares. I also promise I have limits and certain occasions where I require the fam to dress “appropriately” for the occasion, but mostly, my kids dress themselves, and we’re all better off for it.

It makes my motherhood so much easier and their childhood more enjoyable.

Getting dressed is one of the first things your kids can do to foster independence and confidence! Give them the boundaries and guidance until they”get it”, and then LET THEM take it from there.

This is my 3 year old. He’s very independent and very opinionated about what he likes to wear (much like his big sister is). So, I stopped fighting him and he pops out of bed and gets himself dressed each day. Has he mastered “dressing for the weather/occasion”? Nope. But guess what, he’ll figure it out with natural consequences and some reminders from mom.

Until then, he’ll be wearing long pants, long-sleeved shirts, and cowboy boots just about every. dang. day. Oh, and socks…must. have. socks. 😂😅🫠
