Monthly Shopping Trip Favorites – July 2020

Fave Five Pin

Yay! Thanks for checking out my very first Fave Five Friday blog post. I thought this would be a great way to share my favorite finds from my Monthly Shopping Trip (MST) each month.

I’ve been sharing my Fave Five Fridays through stories on Instagram and Facebook for the past couple of months on the Friday after I do my MST. Sharing my favorites via blog posts, in addition to stories, will allow me to actually link products so that my readers can purchase easily, and so they have a point of reference in the future if needed.

Let’s do this!

Fave Five #1 – Old Wisconsin Turkey Sticks

I’ve been getting these Turkey Sticks the past couple of months because they are awesome for a quick snack or part of a picnic lunch on the go. They’re a good source of protein and keep everyone in the house happy and energized! They also have beef sticks, but I like to get the turkey because they’re lower in fat and they taste so good!

Price – $12.98/2 lbs

Fave Five #2 – 1000 Lumen Outdoor Lantern

This Outdoor Lantern was totally an impulse buy. But, it’ll come in handy going back and forth to our fire pit area and for camping trips. After getting the four “D” batteries put in, it works really well. Three different modes of operation – candlelight, low, and high. I especially like the folding metal handle. Great quality!

Price – $19.98

Fave Five #3 – Member’s Mark French Toast Sticks

These Cinnamon French Toast Sticks are so good. Great for a weekday breakfast, or as part of a heartier weekend brunch! Another winner for everyone in the family.

A big reason I enjoy the Member’s Mark frozen products is because of their packaging. First, they make decanting things easy. The French Toast Sticks are packaged in two separate smaller resealable bags within the big box. We toss the box and keep one bag in our fridge freezer and the other in our deep freeze (if we’re running low on space).

One of my biggest pet peeves with other brands is that you lose the cooking instructions when you throw out the box. Well, not with Member’s Mark products! They have the cooking instructions on each bag, so you can pull it out and see exactly what you need to do. I didn’t realize how bothersome it was to me until I started using their frozen food items and my life was changed. Haha!

Price – $6.34

Fave Five #4 – Christian Siriano Short-Sleeved Dress

I’ve had my eyes peeled for a couple of easy summer dresses and this Short-Sleeved Dress fit the bill well! It’s a light material and can be dressed up or down depending on the event. I like the modesty and style of these dresses.

I debated between a couple of the prints, but landed on the fun animal print! Looking forward to wearing this to a wedding this summer.

Price – $12.98 (I got this for $9.81 in-store!)

Fave Five #5 – Face Masks

I just happened to see these Face Masks as I was finishing up and thought I better grab them while I can. It doesn’t appear that COVID-19 is going away anytime soon, so I thought they’d be good to have around just in case. If you’re a mask-wearer, I thought you’d like to know these are (currently) in stock at Sam’s Club.

Price – $18.98

Bonus Faves

I always do this… I can’t help myself. Here are two bonus favorites that I didn’t purchase this month (but really wanted to!):

Fave Five #6 – Glass Beverage Dispenser

I regretfully passed on this two-gallon Glass Beverage Dispenser, but I hope to snag it next month! It’s a great size and would be a great entertaining piece that comes in handy for years to come. I especially like the galvanized steel base that holds ice to keep the beverage cool, but can also double as a separate beverage holder!

Price – $14.98 (such a steal on sale for half off, I believe!)

Fave Five Bonus #7 – Member’s Mark Premium Pocket Tee

Ugh. I was so bummed they didn’t have this Pocket Tee in my size. I threw one on (over my tank) in-store because I was so committed (haha), but it’s snug in the shoulders, so I passed.

I’m hoping they’ll restock this for next month so that I can snag one! These are so cute and a great basic piece for your wardrobe. In-store, they had a worn green color that I really liked and wanted. I don’t see that as an option on-line right now. It’s made of a stretchy modal fabric. I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

Price – $9.98 (I believe this is on sale for around $6 right now in-store, sizing is limited)

I use my trusty Master Shopping List every month to keep me (mostly) on track with purchases. But sometimes there are deals that are just too good to pass up. I give myself a monthly allowance for “fun” items. These things aren’t typically on my MSL, but I either really really like it or we really really need it. Haha!

Okay, that’s it for this month’s Fave Five Friday! Go check out my stories to get a real-life peek at my Fave Five items! I hope you can snag a couple of these gems for yourself soon. If you do, let me know what you think!

Until next month,

-Mackenzy

Just a little PSA: homeownership takes work, especially out on an acreage. If you’re seeing well manicured landscapes and gardens in your feed, let this be a reminder that there’s also plenty of this happening behind the scenes.

Most feeds are a highlight reel; I like to throw in some real-life. If this resonates, follow along for more!

This is the easiest way to deter carpenter bees fr This is the easiest way to deter carpenter bees from areas you don’t want them. They can be very destructive to wood structures, and while they very rarely sting, they’re pesky little boogers.

I’ve added @pinesol to a few empty jugs, for the past few years, where they seem to gravitate (our lean-to) each spring and this works well at moving them along to another destination.

If you’re struggling with carpenter bees in your yard/landscape/property, give this a try! 🐝 You’ll bee happy you did!😉 Plus, it makes your outdoor living areas smell great when you catch a whiff in the breeze!

Consider the Big Picture Calendar a seasonal brain Consider the Big Picture Calendar a seasonal brain 🧠 dump of your life! You can order the Base version if you like to doodle and write things in as you go, or you can do the Customized version and send me alllll the things to print on the calendar for you! I also have a digital download version if you’d like to print yourself! 📆

Whichever you choose, just know it’ll be a helpful tool for planning and organizing your summer season that the whole family can use (husbands love this thing!).☀️🫶🏼

🔍The Big Picture Calendar is a large format, customizable calendar built with academic and activity seasons in mind! I include academic dates on the BPC, as well as other life events you’d like included (with limits).

This is a “Big Picture” look at your life, so you can visualize when you’ll be busy and need extra support, and when you can prioritize intentional down time for your family. This is not a calendar for lots of details, but it does help lift the mental load with an at-a-glance look at life that the whole family can use!

✏️Ordering window does close for custom calendars May 18th, but I can do digital downloads and Base versions until June.

Order today, link in profile! Or message/comment for direct link!🙌🏼
Ah, the “Let Them” theory… I have yet to rea Ah, the “Let Them” theory… I have yet to read Mel Robbins’ book, but I have a pretty good idea what it’s all about.

In motherhood, you have to a strike a balance between control and fostering independence. One way you can do that? LET THEM wear what they want.🙃 Truly. I promise it’s okay. I promise no one really cares. I also promise I have limits and certain occasions where I require the fam to dress “appropriately” for the occasion, but mostly, my kids dress themselves, and we’re all better off for it.

It makes my motherhood so much easier and their childhood more enjoyable.

Getting dressed is one of the first things your kids can do to foster independence and confidence! Give them the boundaries and guidance until they”get it”, and then LET THEM take it from there.

This is my 3 year old. He’s very independent and very opinionated about what he likes to wear (much like his big sister is). So, I stopped fighting him and he pops out of bed and gets himself dressed each day. Has he mastered “dressing for the weather/occasion”? Nope. But guess what, he’ll figure it out with natural consequences and some reminders from mom.

Until then, he’ll be wearing long pants, long-sleeved shirts, and cowboy boots just about every. dang. day. Oh, and socks…must. have. socks. 😂😅🫠

Thanks to Thistles for making this trip extra special with a mini tour of the tulips around town that you can purchase for your own home gardens at pellatulipbulbs.com!

Which tulip is your favorite? I can’t pick just one, but I’m always drawn to the fringe-edge varieties!😍
