Monthly Shopping Trip Fave Five - October 2020 PIN

Hello again, my people! It felt so good to be back in-store for my MST this month! For convenience, I’d been ordering on-line and picking up so it felt like it had been centuries since I’d set foot in a store for some good ol’ retail therapy! I love all of my Fave Five Items this month!

As you know, I only shop once a month. You can go read more about my Monthly Shopping Trips here. There was no shortage of good finds this month. If you are out and about in the coming days/weeks, enjoy all the goodness that fall brings to stores!

Alright, let’s get to it!

Fave Five #1 – Reusable Produce Bags

I stopped in to Homegoods this month (which is very rare) on the hunt for a lazy suzan/turn table. While I did find that (see #2), I also found this set of three reusable produce bags! Can’t wait to use them next month.

I can’t stand the plastic ones in the produce section of the grocery store! These are much more practical and environmentally friendly! Of course, Homegoods doesn’t have an on-line storefront, so I’ve given you three great options below!

Most Similar Find: 3 Pack Organic Cotton Mesh Bags

Option #1: Set of 15 Mesh Bags, various sizes

Option #2: Set of 7 Organic Cotton Mesh Bags, various sizes

Price – Varies from $5.99 – $15.99

Fave Five #2 – Marble Lazy Susan/Turn Table

I was on the hunt for another lazy susan for the fridge this month. I found a gorgeous marble one at Homegoods and couldn’t pass it up. It’s not being used for the purpose I intended, but works very well to hold spices and seasonings beside my stove!

Again, Homegoods doesn’t have anything on-line, and what I found on Amazon is expensive.

I found this gorgeous one at Target. I actually like this one better than the one I got, but it’s double the price I paid.

I also found a few in the thirty dollar price range like the Target option (above) that are awesome as well. Go see them here and here.

And then, I happened upon this one! I think this is a great option for gift-giving, especially since it’s personalized. Christmas isn’t all that far away, remember?!

If you’re a bargain hunter, I’d encourage you to just keep your eyes peeled. Places like TJMAXX, Homegoods, Marshalls, etc. have them. You can also keep an eye out for them at thrift shops if that’s more your style!

Price – $14.99 (for the one I got at Homegoods)

Fave Five #3 – Fleece Jackets

I bought M and I a fleece jacket that is sherpa lined this month. I like to get something like this for the kids each year because they aren’t bulky for wearing in the car, and they can get them dirty when out playing and clean up well.

I’ve had an oversized jacket the past few winters because I’ve been pregnant and it was the only thing that fit to keep me warm. So, it was time to find a better fitting one. This one I got for myself checks off all the boxes for me – snaps, pockets, warm and cozy but not bulky, hood.

Keep an eye out in stores for these… they must be low in stock because they aren’t on-line.

Price – $14.98 for mine, $9.98 for M’s

Fave Five #4 – Jimmy Dean Fully-Cooked Sausage Patties

This is kind of a dud for this month, but these are seriously the best pre-cooked sausage patties! We love them because they taste great and are easy to prepare. I also love that they come packaged in three packs of 8. We eat make these up to eat with our big breakfasts on the weekends.

Price – $8.06

Fave Five #5 – Sam’s Club Pumpkin PIe

I couldn’t even show this in IG stories as I did Fave Five Friday last week because we’d already eaten the whole pie! haha So, just believe me when I say that this is the best (and most delicious) deal you’ll get on a pumpkin pie! It’s a huge 12″ pie for just $6!

You should also try their other yummy pies if you get the chance. They’re just as delicious, but a bit more expensive depending on the type you get.

Price – $5.98 (always)

Bonus Fave – Josh Cellars Red Blend wine

I almost forgot to share this…It’s too good not to. We’ve been getting into red wines lately, and this is my new favorite by far. It’s the Josh Cellars Red Blend. It’s so smooth with just a touch of sweetness, which I really enjoy. And, you can’t beat the price for a wine this good.

Price – $12.98

That’s All for October’s Fave Five

There is a certain buzz and charm that come with the shopping experience this time of year. If you’re out and about, keep your eyes peeled for these great items! And if you get any and like them as much as I do, please let me know! I love hearing from you guys.

Until next month,

-Mackenzy

Just a little PSA: homeownership takes work, especially out on an acreage. If you’re seeing well manicured landscapes and gardens in your feed, let this be a reminder that there’s also plenty of this happening behind the scenes.

Most feeds are a highlight reel; I like to throw in some real-life. If this resonates, follow along for more!

This is the easiest way to deter carpenter bees fr This is the easiest way to deter carpenter bees from areas you don’t want them. They can be very destructive to wood structures, and while they very rarely sting, they’re pesky little boogers.

I’ve added @pinesol to a few empty jugs, for the past few years, where they seem to gravitate (our lean-to) each spring and this works well at moving them along to another destination.

If you’re struggling with carpenter bees in your yard/landscape/property, give this a try! 🐝 You’ll bee happy you did!😉 Plus, it makes your outdoor living areas smell great when you catch a whiff in the breeze!

Consider the Big Picture Calendar a seasonal brain Consider the Big Picture Calendar a seasonal brain 🧠 dump of your life! You can order the Base version if you like to doodle and write things in as you go, or you can do the Customized version and send me alllll the things to print on the calendar for you! I also have a digital download version if you’d like to print yourself! 📆

Whichever you choose, just know it’ll be a helpful tool for planning and organizing your summer season that the whole family can use (husbands love this thing!).☀️🫶🏼

🔍The Big Picture Calendar is a large format, customizable calendar built with academic and activity seasons in mind! I include academic dates on the BPC, as well as other life events you’d like included (with limits).

This is a “Big Picture” look at your life, so you can visualize when you’ll be busy and need extra support, and when you can prioritize intentional down time for your family. This is not a calendar for lots of details, but it does help lift the mental load with an at-a-glance look at life that the whole family can use!

✏️Ordering window does close for custom calendars May 18th, but I can do digital downloads and Base versions until June.

Order today, link in profile! Or message/comment for direct link!🙌🏼
Ah, the “Let Them” theory… I have yet to rea Ah, the “Let Them” theory… I have yet to read Mel Robbins’ book, but I have a pretty good idea what it’s all about.

In motherhood, you have to a strike a balance between control and fostering independence. One way you can do that? LET THEM wear what they want.🙃 Truly. I promise it’s okay. I promise no one really cares. I also promise I have limits and certain occasions where I require the fam to dress “appropriately” for the occasion, but mostly, my kids dress themselves, and we’re all better off for it.

It makes my motherhood so much easier and their childhood more enjoyable.

Getting dressed is one of the first things your kids can do to foster independence and confidence! Give them the boundaries and guidance until they”get it”, and then LET THEM take it from there.

This is my 3 year old. He’s very independent and very opinionated about what he likes to wear (much like his big sister is). So, I stopped fighting him and he pops out of bed and gets himself dressed each day. Has he mastered “dressing for the weather/occasion”? Nope. But guess what, he’ll figure it out with natural consequences and some reminders from mom.

Until then, he’ll be wearing long pants, long-sleeved shirts, and cowboy boots just about every. dang. day. Oh, and socks…must. have. socks. 😂😅🫠

Thanks to Thistles for making this trip extra special with a mini tour of the tulips around town that you can purchase for your own home gardens at pellatulipbulbs.com!

Which tulip is your favorite? I can’t pick just one, but I’m always drawn to the fringe-edge varieties!😍
