Monthly Shopping Trip - Fave Five, August 2020 Pin

Welcome Back, y’all! I am pumped to share my Fave Five from my Monthly Shopping Trip with you all. This month, I decided to niche down into one category for all of the items I’m sharing – bathroom items! And, unlike prior months, not everything is from Sam’s Club this month.

Also, I have a tiny secret… not all of these items are from my MST specifically. I know, I know. I’m breaking all of my own rules, blah, blah, blah. Listen, it’s been a rather joyous month full of retail therapy (which is pretty rare for us)!😍 I went to IKEA for the first time, you guys. The.First.Time. I just can’t help myself.

Here we go…

Fave Five #1 – Oral-B Pro Advantage Battery-Powered Toothbrushes

So, here’s the deal. I went to a bachelorette party last month with my college girls. It was a blast. BUT. I was the only 30+ year old that did not have an electric toothbrush. How embarrassing!🤪 Ugh. Like, what kind of adult am I that does not have an electric toothbrush?!😅

Fave Five - Oral-B Toothbrushes
Price – $16.98/two-pack (regularly $24.98)

So, long story short…I bought Eric and I this set of battery-powered toothbrushes to test out at Sam’s Club. 🤣🤣🤣 You guys. I wish I would have videoed us using them for the first time. It was hysterical. Needless to say, after we got over the initial euphoria, we are fully influenced!

This is saying something for Eric. If that guy is excited to brush his teeth, it’s a big damn deal, people! I specifically bought battery-powered (and much cheaper ones) because I wanted to be sure that we really liked them better. Now that I know we both do, we’ll invest, at some point, in the rechargeable ones.

It’s seriously crazy how much cleaner our teeth feel (and probably really are) now. We’ll never go back. They’re running a good deal on the ones I got ($8 off currently!). We’re so excited about them that I just ordered these toothbrushes for the kids.

Fave Five #2 – Neutrogena Rainbath Refreshing Shower Gel

Fave Five - Neutrogena Body Wash
Price – $16.48 at Sam’s club

This is a really great body wash. I have somewhat sensitive skin…it gets dry, it gets oily, it’s just weird sometimes. I love the way this body wash leaves my skin feeling clean, yet moisturized and fresh. It’s a huge bottle (40oz.) so it lasts me months. I’m talking like 6+ months.

I’ve tried the original, and the scent is fairly strong. It reminds me of a spa…spicy, warm, sensual, and a bit earthy. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea. If you like a fruitier scent, I just opened this pomegranate version, and it is also very good!

If you have a Sam’s Club Membership, it looks like you can get this at a major discount as opposed to Amazon pricing, just an FYI. Also, if you like variety and buying in bulk, this trio of body washes looks really good, too! Please keep in mind that the bottle size is 16oz., not the 40oz.

Fave Five - Makeup Remover Wipes

Fave Five #3 – Neutrogena Makeup Remover cleansing Towelette Refills

I’ve made the mistake of trying other makeup remover wipes too many times. You just can’t beat these from Neutrogena. Plain and simple.

Buying a new pack of these every month, that was way overpriced (imo), got old really fast, so this 5-pack (plus some little individual on-the-go ones) is awesome and lasts me forever.

Price – $16.98

Fave Five #4 – IKEA Hooded Kids Bath Towels

Fave Five - Kids' Hooded Towel

I am so in love with these hooded towels from IKEA for the kids. They are, too! The quality is awesome (so soft and luxurious feeling!) and the price is great for what you are getting.

I was only able to find the blue on-line, but I did get a light pink one for Gracelyn. So cute!

Price – $12.99

Fave Five #5 – Naturewell Extra-Virgin Coconut Oil Moisturizing Cream

Fave Five - Coconut Oil

I’ve been hunting down and trying different body lotions for years trying to find the perfect one (for me). I know everyone has different skin types and preferences for lotions, but this is my perfect lotion. I tend to prefer creams over lotions, and this is the perfect mixture between the two. It’s light and easy to apply but doesn’t leave my skin feeling caked-on or greasy. It’s lovely!

It does have a mild coconut scent. I find it very pleasant. This jar lasts me a couple of months, maybe a little less during the winter months when I apply it more often. I also used this throughout my pregnancies and loved it!

Price – $7.98 (normally $9.98)

That Does It

Okay, that’s it for this month’s Fave Five Friday! Go check out my stories to get a real-life peek at my Fave Five items! I hope you can snag a couple of these gems for yourself soon. If you do, let me know what you think!

Until next month,

-Mackenzy

Just a little PSA: homeownership takes work, especially out on an acreage. If you’re seeing well manicured landscapes and gardens in your feed, let this be a reminder that there’s also plenty of this happening behind the scenes.

Most feeds are a highlight reel; I like to throw in some real-life. If this resonates, follow along for more!

This is the easiest way to deter carpenter bees fr This is the easiest way to deter carpenter bees from areas you don’t want them. They can be very destructive to wood structures, and while they very rarely sting, they’re pesky little boogers.

I’ve added @pinesol to a few empty jugs, for the past few years, where they seem to gravitate (our lean-to) each spring and this works well at moving them along to another destination.

If you’re struggling with carpenter bees in your yard/landscape/property, give this a try! 🐝 You’ll bee happy you did!😉 Plus, it makes your outdoor living areas smell great when you catch a whiff in the breeze!

Consider the Big Picture Calendar a seasonal brain Consider the Big Picture Calendar a seasonal brain 🧠 dump of your life! You can order the Base version if you like to doodle and write things in as you go, or you can do the Customized version and send me alllll the things to print on the calendar for you! I also have a digital download version if you’d like to print yourself! 📆

Whichever you choose, just know it’ll be a helpful tool for planning and organizing your summer season that the whole family can use (husbands love this thing!).☀️🫶🏼

🔍The Big Picture Calendar is a large format, customizable calendar built with academic and activity seasons in mind! I include academic dates on the BPC, as well as other life events you’d like included (with limits).

This is a “Big Picture” look at your life, so you can visualize when you’ll be busy and need extra support, and when you can prioritize intentional down time for your family. This is not a calendar for lots of details, but it does help lift the mental load with an at-a-glance look at life that the whole family can use!

✏️Ordering window does close for custom calendars May 18th, but I can do digital downloads and Base versions until June.

Order today, link in profile! Or message/comment for direct link!🙌🏼
Ah, the “Let Them” theory… I have yet to rea Ah, the “Let Them” theory… I have yet to read Mel Robbins’ book, but I have a pretty good idea what it’s all about.

In motherhood, you have to a strike a balance between control and fostering independence. One way you can do that? LET THEM wear what they want.🙃 Truly. I promise it’s okay. I promise no one really cares. I also promise I have limits and certain occasions where I require the fam to dress “appropriately” for the occasion, but mostly, my kids dress themselves, and we’re all better off for it.

It makes my motherhood so much easier and their childhood more enjoyable.

Getting dressed is one of the first things your kids can do to foster independence and confidence! Give them the boundaries and guidance until they”get it”, and then LET THEM take it from there.

This is my 3 year old. He’s very independent and very opinionated about what he likes to wear (much like his big sister is). So, I stopped fighting him and he pops out of bed and gets himself dressed each day. Has he mastered “dressing for the weather/occasion”? Nope. But guess what, he’ll figure it out with natural consequences and some reminders from mom.

Until then, he’ll be wearing long pants, long-sleeved shirts, and cowboy boots just about every. dang. day. Oh, and socks…must. have. socks. 😂😅🫠
